Following the insightful panel discussion on Governance at the ESG SHIPPING AWARDS 2024 The Conference, Costas Constantinou, Moore Greece, shares some of the key takeaways that emerged during the session.

“Many interesting points came out of the panel discussion on Governance, which I had the pleasure of facilitating: the first point is the necessity of management to believe in the value of governance and to lead by example. Equally important is the engagement of all people across all ranks and roles to create a culture of ethical conduct and honest communication. The last point, but a very significant one, is that Governance has a very observable monetary value: companies that can demonstrate robust governance structures (a) are better protected against risks and their potential resulting monetary losses, (b) they can seek business in the league of more sophisticated business partners who have the same expectations, and (c) they can attract and retain talent much more effectively.”
