The distinction recognises Mr Constantinou\u2019s longstanding contribution to the economy, shipping and auditing, as well as his broader contribution to education, culture and Hellenism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The ceremony brought together representatives of Cyprus\u2019s political, diplomatic and shipping communities, prominent figures from Greece and the wider Greek community, as well as friends and associates of Mr Constantinou from Cyprus and Greece. Among the guests was Prince Pavlos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n A journey connecting Cyprus, Greece and the United Kingdom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr Constantinou\u2019s journey began in his birthplace, Mitsero, Cyprus, and continued through the United Kingdom and Greece. In 1963, following his selection by Moore Stephens London, he established in Piraeus the first office of an international network of Chartered Accountants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n More than six decades later, his professional journey remains closely connected with the development of Moore Greece, today an independent member of Moore Global, with more than 130 professionals and a broad range of services, with particular expertise in the shipping sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout his career, Mr Constantinou\u2019s professional activity has been accompanied by a longstanding commitment to culture, education and the Orthodox Church. A significant part of this journey has been the establishment of the Centre for Hellenism, dedicated to promoting and preserving Greek history, culture and heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cContributing to Greece and Cyprus is a duty\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Upon receiving the Medal, Mr Constantinou expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Cyprus and spoke of the importance of the shared history and enduring ties between Greece and Cyprus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe presentation of the Medal for Outstanding Contribution today is, for me, a moment of deep emotion and the highest honour of my life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Referring to his relationship with the two countries, he added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cContributing to Greece and Cyprus is a duty, but it is also an inner need that I feel as an obligation to our shared history, our shared culture and the enduring bonds that unite Hellenism throughout the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also referred to his roots in Mitsero, the people who contributed to his professional journey and his longstanding connection with shipping.
